25th Annual Pike Derby

Our Winner!

1st Place Matt Trudeau with a 16.36lb Pike

And 2nd and 3rd place winners are:

2nd Place goes to Myrle Caumpeau with a 7.23lb Pike.

3rd Place goes to Marty Deshevy with a 6.54lb Pike.

There was 130 entries, and we would like to thank everyone for the great turn out.

• Everyone who enters the derby gets a 25th anniversary hat at checkpoint

° First Prize $1000.00 cash donated by the Britt/Byng Inlet Angler's Association
 ° Second Prize minimum $300.00 value prizes donated by the sponsors
° Third prize minimum $100.00 value prize donated by the sponsors

Prize Maximum: One prize per person

Rules and Regulations

Laws & Eligibility: Everyone is eligible. Ontario fish and game laws will apply. All Federal and Provincial fishery and boating regulations must be observed at all times.

Entries: Entries accompanied by $20.00 entry fee must be received by tournament officials no later that 9:00 AM on the day of the derby (check-in commences at 7:30 AM and concludes at 10:00 AM)

Tournament Boundaries: Water West of Highway #69 bridge and the waters of Georgian Bay. No land travel is aloud.

Fishing Hours: Shotgun starts on the day of the derby at 8:00 AM in front of St.Amant's Store. Weigh-in begins at 4:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM at St.Amant's Store.

Fishing: Maximum one pike may be entered for official weigh-in on the day of the derby. All fish must be caught by angling. One prize per person is the maximum.

Inspection: Each boat must be inspected by tournament officials at day's start on the date of the derby. Boats may be inspected during the day by tournament officials.

Judging: decisions of judges, biologist, and committee are final and not subject to appeal. Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest fish caught on the day of the derby. All standing will be determined on a pure weight basis. Winning fish may be gutted and examined by a biologist for evidence of infractions. If a tie results, the first fish submitted shall be the winner.

Limitation of Liability: Fishing on Georgian Bay presents hazards at any time: weather, faulty equipment, geological hazards, and poor seamanship to name just a few. As an implicit condition of entry into the Britt/Byng Inlet Anglers' Association Pike Derby, the participant(s) release(s) all officers, employees, and agents of the Britt/Byng Inlet Anglers Association and St.Amant's Waterfront Inn & Marina for all liability or responsibility to the participant or the heirs, assigns, representatives, or estate of the participant for any loss, damage, or injury suffered during the course of or out of participation in the Britt/Byng Inlet Anglers' Association Pike Derby, whether or not arising out of the negligence of those herein released.

Participation: All persons in a participant's boat must be entered in the derby. Any participant or passenger found to be under the influence of alcohol will be automatically disqualified from the derby.

Infractions: Competitors may be disqualified for any violation of the tournament rules, and will not receive a refund of their entry fee.
